Talented designer needed!

We are looking for a talented middleweight interactive designer with a great passion for design, the internet and social media.

The person we are looking for must be enthusiastic, self-motivated with outstanding design and layout skills. First and foremost we're looking for an awesome designer, but any technical knowledge of HTML, Flash, 3D, After Effects or iPhone/iPad interface design would be a big bonus.

You're an intimate friend of Adobe Creative Suite and are comfortable leading projects from the concept stage through to completion. Your professional portfolio should demonstrate your ability to apply your creative juices across a varied range of projects.

Excellent communication and time management skills are essential.

Please send your CV and digital portfolio to Hege Aaby

The Sennep sticker swapping semi

We held a little soiree for the World Cup semi between Germany and Spain, and invited all our Sticker Swapping chums along. It was a great evening all round - good swaps, good company, good beers (Bitburger and San Miguel naturally)... It's just a shame for Christoph and the German crew that their young charges ran out of legs at the final hurdle (bless).

Now that the World Cup's over and your sticker books are almost finished, why not signup to stickerswapping.com (if you haven't already) to get your hands on those illusive neeeeeeeeeds!

Got, Got, Need!

World Cup fever is ramping up and nostalgia for Panini sticker albums has kicked in. Here at Sennep we're painstakingly filling in our sticker books as if we are 12 years old again. Judging by the corner shop selling out everyday we have a sneaking suspicion that there is an online community of big kids indulging this guilty pleasure.

If you are similarly afflicted this could be your lucky day. We have made a super easy way of managing your Panini World Cup 2010 sticker album. The website allows you to communicate with other collectors to trade your 'doubles'. It's also iPhone friendly and is location aware so you can feed your addiction and find other swappers whilst on the move.

It has all the features you'll need: listing every player and sticker number, with the option to indicate those you have and others you want to swap.

All together now ... "Got, got, neeeeeeeeed!"

We received our copy of the Creative Review Annual this morning and were delighted to discover that our project Dandelion (in collaboration with Yoke) had made it into the 'Best in Book' category.

The Annual is a "showcase of the year's best work in advertising, graphic design and visual communication" and can be viewed both in print format and as a nifty iPhone App.

Simon&John

We have developed a bold, fluid portfolio site that showcases the work of Simon&John across disciplines including Brand Communication, Brand Experience and Augmented Reality.

The full-flash site employs a subtle use of Papervision to create a folding 3D carousel to display the work. The purpose of this was to echo the physical nature of some of Simon&John's portfolio and to give the user a more tactile experience.

David James - Out of Print

Sennep have created a digital exhibition for acclaimed design director David James. The retrospective runs online for a limited period of two months before the full site launches in May and brings together over 300 images from James's illustrious portfolio.

Designed as a simple timeline, visitors can click through an archive that includes his work as art director for Prada, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen as well as familiar pieces such as Soul II Soul's Club Classics Vol 1 and bi-annual style bibles AnOther Magazine and AnOther Man.

Each piece of work has its own unique web address and is accompanied by a written commentary, giving further insight into the makings of these iconic images.

We have just got back from our annual long weekend away. This year we had the pleasure of visiting the historic Italian town of Mantova.

Much merriment, delicious food, beautiful weather and fantastic Italian hospitality was enjoyed by all. Thanks to Lorenzo's family and friends for a great trip.

Who we are

Sennep is a London-based design studio specialising in creating digital experiences for online and physical environments. Since our inception in 2003 our passion has always been to create appropriate, functional and beautifully crafted designs. With every brief we aim to expand upon our clients' vision and create something we can be truly proud of.

We don't believe in growth for the sake of it and feel that our team of eleven enthusiastic full-timers is a great size. It means we can provide a range of specialist skills whilst maintaining a 'boutique' service.

As a creative studio we infuse design and technology with a human element. There's a strong sense of craft to the work we do. Our projects often have handmade, drawn, constructed and photographed components.

Kantar Worldpanel

Kantar Worldpanel is the world's leading provider of continuous consumer panel research.

The website launch introduces the new name; Kantar Worldpanel - formerly known as TNS Worldpanel - and the new logo, designed by The Partners. Central to the new brand is a visual device, which acts as a framing mechanism to zoom in beyond the obvious to gain insights.

The client gave us freedom to push the boundaries of what's expected from a marketing research website. Based around a full-screen park scene with a global mix of people, users will uncover interesting nuggets of consumer insights by panning across landscape. The main navigation lets you delve deeper into the nuts and bolts of the company.

How do you doodle?

We have launched a website for a new range of Feel Good Kids Drinks.

To support the 'How do you doodle?' feature on the back of the new packs, we have built a fun and easy to use drawing application. Doodles created online, by the kids, have the chance of being printed on the drink packs at regular intervals throughout the year.

The website also contains simple product and stockists info for parents, as well as a 'Hall of Fame' that displays doodles that have already made it onto the packs. Submissions are also posted in the gallery, where they can be easily shared with friends.

Useful Simple Trust

Useful Simple is an Employee Benefit Trust whose purpose it is to blaze a trail in the integrated, intelligent and ethical provision of the human environment.

The forms in the identity (designed by thomasmatthews) represent the collection of unique and dynamic companies within the trust. The trust (represented by the orange bowl) acts as a crucible for ideas and opportunities.

Sennep have brought this identity to life with a playful website and photoshoot of the trustees. The shapes in the website react to the layouts of each section, as well as the user (who can throw them around the browser and watch them bounce and collide to create new and random compositions).

Kantar Group

The Kantar Group is one of the world's largest research, insight and consultancy networks. Sennep were tasked with the challenge of bringing Kantar's high quality research to life as well as communicate the company's personality and diverse talents.

Working with their new branding (developed by The Partners) we created a navigation system that falls back into 3D to give users an overview of the content of each section. This device helps foreground ever-changing questions, posted by Kantar's endlessly curious staff. It also subtly implies a sense of Kantar's understanding of the global business community from different perspectives.

Sennep worked closely with Kantar and some very talented motion designers to create the first set of ongoing video commissions for the 'What we do' section. These were produced to illustrate key case studies in an accessible and visually rich way.

BHF - New Health Plan Petition

Heart disease is the UK's biggest killer, yet it is not in the Department of Health's 5 priority objectives for next year. The purpose of this website is to encourage the casual supporter to sign the CVC's petition to build support for a New Heart Health Plan.

The brief to Sennep was to create a unique and relevant visual representation of a growing number of signatories, that would engage with and encourage the casual supporter to sign up to the petition.

Our solution was to generate a crowd of origami people. After signing the petition form the paper folds into a person, representing you joining the rest of the petitioners.

The Savoy hotel

The Savoy hotel is currently undergoing a £100 million restoration to reaffirm its position as the premier hotel in central London. Sennep worked with branding and assets from Pentagram to tell the story of the Savoy since it originally opened in 1889.

Supported by stunning photography of London, by Richard Bryant, the website evokes a sense of nostalgia of past events at the Savoy, excitement of what London represents today and intrigue ahead of the hotel re-opening next year.

BHF - Annual report & wall mural

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the nation's heart charity, focusing on three vital things; pioneering research, support and care for heart patients and preventative initiatives.

Sennep's first project with the BHF involved designing the online Annual Report 08. Supporting the financial information was a series of inter-related stories, demonstrating the reach of the BHF in the community.

The challenge was to display these linked stories in a creative and clear way, which resulted in a 'typographic heart' formed of the story titles. These titles animate fluidly to form a different page layout for each story, with the linked stories clearly identified.

The typographic heart was a hit with the BHF, so they consequently asked to us to create several similar wall murals in their London head quarters.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty

Advertising giant BBH was in dire need of a new website to showcase their impressive global output. With six offices worldwide and twenty five years of experience they really produce some of the best advertising on the planet!

Sennep has allowed BBH's work to speak for itself by designing a clean and elegant interface, adding subtle touches - like the strolling black sheep - to express the company's personality.

In addition to being a device to navigate BBH's different offices, the spinning globe - with its iconic land marks - shows that each office is autonomous yet connected, producing the same great BBH quality for the local region it represents.

Feel Good Drinks Co

With the mission of "spreading feelgoodness" the people over at Feelgood Drinks promise their drinks are pure and delicious, with no added nasties. We know it's true because they sent over a whole lot of drinks for us to enjoy :-) Not only do they make tasty drinks, but every member of the team is committed to 'doing their bit' for the community.

The website needed to be happy, energetic and in-keeping with their motto.

Sennep created a 'handmade' theatre made up of card wheels, each revolving to change the scenes, with other elements attached to lolly sticks and strings. We had a lot of fun creating the different environments and the site has been successful in helping the Feelgood community grow.

Playful Interaction

08 Dec, 2009

Dandelion

The piece was part of the exhibition Decode: Digital Design Sensations at the Victoria & Albert Museum, 8 December 2009 to 11 April 2010. The exhibition was co-curated by the V&A and onedotzero to showcase the latest developments in digital and interactive design.

The intent of the piece was to make a playful and magical experience with a simple and satisfying interaction for young and old.

The viewer uses a hairdryer to blow the seeds off by pointing the hairdryer at the projected dandelion on the screen. The seeds can be blown around after they have come off and the grass also reacts to the hairdryer. A speaker in the hairdryer plays an adaptive hairdryer sound and speakers in front of the screen play a soundscape that changes depending on where you blow.

The piece was developed in collaboration with Danish interaction designers Yoke.

De La Warr Pavilion

An installation for a wedding reception held at the modernist De La Warr Pavillion - the purpose of the piece was not only to act as an ever-changing backdrop for the festivities, but to encourage guests onto the dance floor and at the same time capture some more untraditional footage of the special day.

The installation tracks and displays only the moving body parts of the guests, to encourage and inspire some 'interesting' moves on the dance floor. This was simultaneously recorded as an alternative wedding video for the happy couple.

Blyk

Designed for a student club night touring the UK, the installation acts as a surreal inky mirror for a new mobile network called Blyk.

Standing in front of the installation your body displays as an inky silhouette, where animated Blyk creatures start appearing when you stand still. They multiply until characters sit and hang off all available body parts. Moving or shaking your body causes the creatures to fall off, but only for different ones to appear in their place.

Strangely addictive.
